Good Touch / Bad Touch

Your body belongs to YOU. Learn what is safe, what is not, and who to tell. You are brave and you are never alone.

βœ… Safe Touches β€” feel comfortable and are okay
πŸ€—
Hug from Family
A hug from Mummy, Papa or grandparents when you want it is a safe, loving touch.
🀝
Handshake
Shaking hands with friends, teachers or guests is a normal, safe greeting.
πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈ
Doctor's Check-up
A doctor may need to examine you β€” but a parent or trusted adult must always be present.
βœ‹
High Five
High fives and pats on the back from friends and teachers are friendly safe touches.
πŸ’†
Hair Combing
A parent brushing or combing your hair as part of getting ready is a safe, caring touch.
🩹
First Aid
A parent or nurse cleaning and bandaging a wound is a safe touch to help you feel better.
❌ Unsafe Touches β€” never okay, always tell an adult
πŸ™ˆ
Private Parts
Nobody should touch the parts covered by your swimsuit β€” except a doctor with a parent present.
😟
Uncomfortable Touch
Any touch that makes you feel confused, scared or uneasy β€” even from someone you know.
🀫
Secret Touch
"Don't tell anyone." Safe adults NEVER ask you to keep touches secret. That is a warning sign.
😑
Forced Touch
Being forced to hug or kiss someone when you don't want to β€” even a relative β€” is not okay.
πŸ“±
Photos of Your Body
No one should take photos of your private parts or ask you to send photos of them.
πŸ’°
Bribe for Touch
Someone offering gifts, money or candy in exchange for a touch is always unsafe. Tell an adult.
πŸ’ͺ Remember These Always
🩱
The Swimsuit Rule
Any part your swimsuit covers is private. Only you, your parents and a doctor can touch those areas.
🦸
It Is NEVER Your Fault
If someone touches you unsafely, it is 100% their fault β€” not yours. You did nothing wrong.
✊
You Can Say NO
You have the right to say NO to any touch β€” even from adults you know and love.
πŸ“’
Always Tell
If something unsafe happens, tell a trusted adult. Keep telling until someone listens to you.

School Bullying

Bullying is never okay and it is never your fault. Learn to recognise it, what to do, and how to help others.

😌
Normal Conflict
A one-time argument or disagreement between friends. Both people have equal power and can walk away.
😑
Bullying
Repeated, intentional hurtful behaviour where one person has more power than the other. The target cannot easily make it stop.
πŸ“Œ Bullying Has 3 Key Features: 1. Repeated β€” it happens more than once  Β·  2. Intentional β€” the bully means to hurt  Β·  3. Power imbalance β€” the bully feels stronger or in control
🚨 Warning Signs β€” Is Someone Being Bullied?
😒
Comes home upset, sad or withdrawn
May not want to explain why β€” give them space then gently ask.
🏫
Does not want to go to school or avoids certain routes
May make up excuses β€” stomach aches, headaches β€” to stay home.
🍽️
Stops eating lunch or comes home very hungry
May be afraid to go to the canteen or be having food taken from them.
😴
Sleep problems, nightmares or seems constantly tired
Bullying causes anxiety that affects sleep deeply.
πŸ“±
Suddenly stops using phone or device, or gets very upset after using them
A sign that cyberbullying may be happening alongside school bullying.
πŸŽ’
Belongings are damaged, missing or "lost" repeatedly
Books, stationery, lunch box, uniform β€” bullies often target possessions.
🀝
Has fewer friends, sits alone or avoids group activities
Social bullying can cut a child off from their friend group.
πŸ“‰
Grades drop or interest in school activities disappears
It is very hard to focus and learn when you are anxious and scared every day.
πŸ’œ Remember: Bullying is NEVER the victim's fault. No one deserves to be bullied because of how they look, speak, dress, eat, perform or where they come from. Every child deserves to feel safe at school.
πŸ” Types of Bullying β€” Know Them All
πŸ‘Š
Physical Bullying
Hitting, pushing, kicking, tripping, blocking, or damaging someone's belongings. The most visible type.
πŸ—£οΈ
Verbal Bullying
Name-calling, teasing, mocking, threatening, or making fun of someone's appearance, ability or background.
πŸ’»
Cyberbullying
Harassment, threats, mean messages or humiliating content sent through phones, apps, games or social media.
🌍
Prejudice-based
Targeting someone because of their religion, caste, language, skin colour, region or background. This is discrimination and may be illegal.
πŸŽ’
Property Bullying
Stealing, hiding, breaking or demanding someone's belongings β€” tiffin, stationery, money, uniform or personal items.
πŸ’‘ Did You Know? Verbal and social bullying are far more common than physical bullying in Indian schools β€” but they hurt just as much. "It was just a joke" is never an excuse when someone is being hurt.
πŸ’ͺ If You Are Being Bullied β€” Step by Step
1

Stay Calm β€” Don't React with Anger or Tears

Bullies want a reaction. If you cry or lash out, it gives them power. Take a slow breath, stand tall, and walk away if you can. Staying calm does not mean you are weak β€” it means you are in control.

2

Use a Firm, Confident Voice

Look the bully in the eye and say clearly: "Stop it. That is not okay." You don't need to argue or explain. Short, confident words show you are not an easy target.

3

Move Away and Stay Around Others

Walk away from the bully β€” bullies prefer isolated victims. Stay near classmates, teachers or busy areas. Avoid isolated spots like empty corridors, washrooms and corners of the playground.

4

Save Evidence if It Happens Online

Screenshot hurtful messages, posts or images. Note the date, time and platform. Do not delete them. This evidence is important when you report the bullying.

5

Tell a Trusted Adult β€” Don't Stay Silent

Tell your teacher, class teacher, school counsellor, Mummy or Papa. Tell them what happened, when, where and who was involved. If the first person doesn't help β€” tell another. Keep telling. You deserve to be safe.

6

Keep a Diary of Incidents

Write down each bullying incident: date, time, location, what happened, who was there. This record helps teachers and parents take action β€” and reminds you that you are not imagining it.

βœ… Important Reminders: Telling a teacher about bullying is NOT "tattling" or "being a snitch." Tattling is to get someone in trouble. Telling is to keep yourself or others safe. They are completely different β€” and telling is always the brave and right thing to do.
πŸ†˜ Who to Tell at School
πŸ‘©β€πŸ«
Class Teacher or Subject Teacher
Your first point of contact for bullying that happens in class, corridors or on school grounds.
πŸ§‘β€πŸ’Ό
School Counsellor
Trained to handle bullying situations confidentially. You can ask to speak to them privately.
🏫
Principal or Vice Principal
For serious or repeated bullying that teachers have not resolved. Every school must have an anti-bullying policy.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦
Parents or Guardians
Tell Mummy or Papa β€” they can speak to the school on your behalf and escalate the matter if needed.
πŸ“Œ Bystander vs Upstander β€” What's the Difference? A bystander watches bullying happen but does nothing. An upstander takes action to help β€” either in the moment or by getting help. Research shows bullying stops within 10 seconds when a bystander speaks up. You have more power than you think!
🌟 How to Be an Upstander
πŸ›‘
Speak Up Directly
If it's safe, say clearly: "Stop it β€” that's not okay." Your voice can break the moment and give the victim courage.
🀝
Support the Victim
Walk over and stand with them. Say "Are you okay?" afterwards. Just having a friend beside them changes everything.
🚢
Walk Away Together
If direct confrontation isn't safe, walk over, say "Come with me" to the victim and walk away together β€” removing the audience.
πŸ“’
Tell a Teacher
Go to a teacher, counsellor or adult immediately. You don't have to be the hero alone β€” getting help is the most effective action.
πŸ“±
Don't Share or Like
If it's online β€” don't share, like or laugh at hurtful content. Sharing makes YOU part of the bullying, even if you didn't start it.
πŸ’¬
Check In Privately
Message the bullied person privately later: "I saw what happened. It wasn't okay. I'm here for you." This matters more than you know.
❌ What NOT to Do as a Bystander
❌
Don't laugh, cheer or record a video
This encourages the bully and humiliates the victim further. It may also be used as evidence against you.
❌
Don't look away and pretend you didn't see
Silence gives the bully permission to continue. They see it as approval.
❌
Don't spread rumours or gossip about it
Talking to other students first spreads drama. Go directly to a trusted adult instead.
❌
Don't tell the victim to "just ignore it"
Ignoring doesn't make bullying stop. The victim needs real support β€” not dismissal.
πŸ’œ One person can change everything: Studies show that when even ONE bystander stands up, bullying stops in most cases. You don't need to be strong, popular or loud. You just need to act. Be the one who acts.
